Hi there! I'm Carrie, I'm passionate about capturing genuine moments and creating timeless images. I developed a love for photography and design as a child. One of my best friend’s mom was a graphic designer and I thought that was so cool. She had a drafting table at the house with all of her markers, rulers, sketched designs and ads. I believe that she was the ultimate inspiration for me getting my degree in Graphics Fine Art. While studying at college I was required to take a photography class. The class required us to experiment with different styles of photography from landscape to portraits. We also had to develop our own film as well as shoot in B/W. I discovered that I loved photography and developing film. Developing film was so cool because you could see your images come to life. After I graduated I went into graphic design and continued my photography as a hobby. I went on to work at a couple of ad agencies in Fairfax, Va, was an Art Director at Time-Life in Alexandria, VA, and later supported the Federal Government in the Intelligence Community. You never know where life is going to take you, it makes for an interesting life. After 20 years as a professional graphic designer, I decided that I had to finally take a chance to pursue my love for photography instead of continuing it simply as a hobby. I am now a photographer first and do graphic design in addition. I believe if you have a dream in your heart it was placed there for a reason and we must pursue it. I was fortunate enough that opportunity knocked and I opened the door. I hope to inspire young adults to find their passion and take calculated risks, you never know where they may take you.
I’m married to my high school sweetheart (the love of my life), in addition to undying support for me he provides level-headed thought when I get too ambitious. We have a son (the other Love of my life) that rocks our world. Our son is in the creative industry as well, having just graduated from SCAD. In fact, his graduating is part of how CZCPhotography was formed and came to life. I saw it as an opportunity to work creatively with my son. It keeps him busy until he finds his professional direction and his career. Oh, I forgot to mention we have a dog named Zoey and she rules all of our worlds.
When I’m not taking pictures I can usually be found either gardening or in my she-shed, aka Shangri-La, where I paint watercolor and acrylic pictures.
Now that you know a little more about me, I would love the opportunity to capture some of your special moments. Let’s chat
